GaGaRye: The Diverse Landscapes of Family Rituals
by Arumjigi Culture Keepers Foundation
Arumjigi Office / September 8, 2018 – November 2, 2018
The fifth "Arumjigi Culinary Culture Exhibition," titled GaGaRye: The Diverse Landscapes of Family Rituals, explores various forms of ancestral rituals designed in collaboration with experts from Korean cuisine, craft, and design. The exhibition addresses how to harmonize the essence of rituals with traditional formalities, as families confront changes in modern perceptions and lifestyles. As the times, frequency, and types of food offered in rituals evolve, what changes with it, and what must remain?
Through this exhibition, Arumjigi hopes that ancestral rituals, far from being mere formalities, can inspire and foster a sense of community. The goal is for these traditions to evolve as a beautiful cultural practice, preserving their essential identity while promoting family unity.
